Black Classical Music Discovery
The Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival will present "Black Classical Music Discovery" a four-part 'open university' style series on Zoom starting January 11th.
This four-part music enrichment series explores the contributions of Black composers to classical music. Each session will be held live and recorded for later viewing.
The course will be taught by Titus Underwood: the principal oboist with the Nashville Symphony. Titus will take us through an historical and cultural journey from 18th-century composer Chevalier de Saint-Georges to modern-day composers. He will delve into the music of these artists as well as their cultural zeitgeist.
Each live session by Zoom will be an hour of interactive and multimedia education followed by questions and conversation. Please don't worry if the original class times are inconvenient for you. Each class will be recorded and available for you to watch whenever you wish and as often as you wish for a full month following its original airing.
The live sessions will be held on four Wednesdays at 7:00 and recorded for later viewing: January 11 | January 18 | February 15 | February 22.
