Old Fashioned Sing-A-Long Jan. 12

Remember singing around a campfire as a kid? Or maybe you were lucky enough to join friends singing popular songs accompanied by a piano. Well just because it's winter doesn't mean we cannot still enjoy gathering to sing. Every summer at my family vacation I find myself joining a group of adults on a veranda to do this. Enjoy it so much I thought why should sing-a-longs be limited to campfires? Or vacations? Or even summer?

On Thursday, January 12th at 6:30 pm in the community room at the Richmond Library we'll be having a good old fashioned sing-a-long. Nothing formal. We'll have songbooks with a bunch of songs (and chords). Anyone adventurous with an instrument is more than welcome to bring it. We will have a couple instruments to (perhaps) keep us on key, but it's really about the singing. Folk, golden oldies, some tunes from musicals, popular songs, a real mix. Something for all. They are geared more for adults (grown-ups may recognize and remember many of the songs) but families are certainly welcome. And singers of ALL abilities and interests are most welcome. Only requirement is a desire to enjoy community singing together. We'll pick through the songbooks and choose what we want.

So warm up those voices, fondly remember when we were all kids, and come join in!

Oh, and FYI: this will be a campfire-free event. Just couldn't talk the staff into lighting one in the community room…. 😊.
