Independence Day in Jeff

Some thoughts and reminders about the Independence Day Celebration in Jeffersonville. Most important - Yes, it's on the Fourth! The parade kicks off from GW Tatro at 10 AM - parade participants should arrive at the staging area by 9:30. The fair immediately follows the parade at Cambridge Elementary School until approximately 2 PM. Good eats, great music with Kim and Reggie Harris courtesy of the Cambridge Arts Council, games for the kids, gifts and crafts and a chance to reconnect with friends and neighbors. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the writing of the Star Spangled Banner - Annie Rheaume will be singing the national anthem at the end of the first music set - brush up and sing along!!!............and don't forget that now is the time to be searching out those world-class frogs for the frog-jumping contest which will take place at about 1:30. Please remember that dogs are no longer allowed on the fields at the school.

At the other end of the day, get to Smuggs early for the 40th Army Band and Cambridge Fire Department BBQ - and settle in for the Grand Fireworks Finale at dusk.

Finally, please drive and act safely this holiday weekend.
