Join us at the Richmond Free Library on Wednesday, January 11 at 7 pm for "Lake Views," an inspiring and educational event featuring both a free screening of the film NO OTHER LAKE and a presentation of the book Our Basin of Relations: The Art & Science of Living with Water. After the presentations, filmmakers Jordan Rowell and Duane Peterson III, along with book editor Trevien Stanger and photographer M.E. Sipe, will participate in a panel discussion about the different perspectives of our cherished and challenged Lake Champlain.

NO OTHER LAKE is a celebration of the unique beauty of Lake Champlain as well as a confrontation with its greatest challenges. Motivated by a desire to better understand his home watershed, Jordan Rowell kayaks the 120-mile length of Lake Champlain, stopping along the way to talk to a wide range of characters about the future of their shared basin. This adventure-conservation documentary strives to inspire people to connect with the natural world around them, see issues from a different point of view, and get involved with stewardship efforts happening close to home.

Our Basin of Relations features the fine art photography of M.E. Sipe, the curating vision of Trevien Stanger, and over a dozen essays written by thinkers, academics, poets, farmers, and activists who call this region home. With open hearts, wild minds, and attentive bodies, these writers deepen our insights and advance our sense of the possible for all of the beings in this beautiful place, the Champlain Basin. The book is available to borrow from the library.

This program is free and no registration is required. Join us in the library's Community Room on Wednesday, January 11 at 7 pm.
