Budget details:
The changes we will see since the first budget presentation on December 7th include:
❖ Changing the funding source of a district wide Social Emotion Learning Director from ARP ESSER to local funds.
❖ Addition of four permanent substitutes
❖ Addition of one time expenses to MHS, MSMS, and Facilities

Since last year:
❖ Education Spending is up 6.51%
❖ Education Spending per pupil is up 7.45%
❖ With the current best guesses of # of equalized pupils, Property Dollar Yield, and Common Level of Appraisal, the tax rate would decrease by 5.23% for Montpelier (9 cents) and decrease by 7.58% for Roxbury (10 cents). NOTE, the above mentioned factors are beyond the control of the school district and are determined by things like real estate market, student enrollment, etc.; they can still change and have effects on the tax rate.

School budgets and formulas are complicated. If you have any questions or want to better understand this process, please reach out to us.

There will be a public budget forum held on January 4th. There is also a great MRPS podcast (Episode 1) with the former business manager that explains the school budget process that can be found here:

Please consider attending or tuning into our meeting. Be in contact your MRPS Roxbury School Board Directors with any questions, concerns, or positive feedback. We will appreciate hearing from you.
