Vermont Mindful Walks invites you all to join in for the last Mindful Walk of 2022 on New Year's Eve at 11AM.
Did you know that cold exposure can be used to combat stress? Come experience the magic of winter in Stone Meadow Park in Wallingford, Vermont!
We'll be meeting at the kiosk for a brief introduction to the practice of mindful walking, followed by some yoga based warm-ups, a short walk stopping periodically to connect with each of our senses, and then a 5-minute seated nature meditation. We'll end the practice by sharing our experiences over a cup of hot Winter Immuni-Tea grown at Lightfoot Farm in Vermont. Trail seats and tea will be provided.
Be sure to bundle up as we will be moving slowly so we won't be generating much body heat. Snow shoes are encouraged and can be borrowed from the Gilbert Hart Library, just like a book! Otherwise, be sure to wear thick socks (preferably wool), insulated boots, thermal underwear, snow pants, hats, scarves and gloves. If you are especially sensitive to the cold, please bring hand and foot warmers too. Everyone is encouraged to participate to their comfort level and if at any time anyone gets too cold please let me know.
If you would like to RSVP for this event, please email me to register at vtmindfulwalks@gmail.com . RSVP's are appreciated so I know how much tea to bring along. Sign up with your email address for information about future community nature connection events. Please include your cell phone number so I can contact you in case of a last-minute cancellation.
This walk is a free, community building event but you will have the option to donate to the following 3 causes:
The Atowi Project- Atowi is an Elnu Abenaki community initiative to affirm Native relationships to the Land and its inhabitants, raise Indigenous voices, and foster inclusion with understanding, in place.
Divided Sky Foundation - an up and coming substance use disorder rehab center in Ludlow, VT who will be incorporating mindfulness training into their program.
The Stone Meadow Community Pollinator Garden- a new project started with the goal of increasing the butterfly, bee and bird population at Stone Meadow Park
Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy holiday!
All the best,
