In the Belly of the Beast:
Living Building Challenge and Other Alternative Approaches in the Shadow of Big Oil

In Houston, Texas, where oil is king, how can an eco-architect/green builder team make a dent? For Shelly Pottorf and Shannon Bryant, it’s a David versus Goliath battle on multiple fronts – from putting up Texas’ first Living Building Challenge project, to utilizing reclaimed materials; from designing low-income, small houses that meet Passive House standards, to developing plans for infill pocket communities. Come hear stories about the efforts one needs to take to make a difference (and to stay sane) living and working in the belly of the beast.

Shannon Bryant is a Certified Passive House Builder and Permaculture Designer.
Shelly Pottorf is a registered architect in Texas and Vermont, a LEED AP, a Certified Passive House Consultant and Builder, a Regenerative Practitioner, and a Certified Permaculture Designer.

This lecture is free and open to the public. Come join us!
