OLLI Presents Rick Winston on Films Based on Novels of Henry James
The fall session of the Central Vermont Osher Life-long Learning Institute (OLLI) will finish up on Wednesday, December 14 at 1:30 pm at the Savoy Theater, Main Street Montpelier. Well known film historian and author Rick Winston will present the third of a three-part series of films based on novels of Henry James.
The film, The Bostonians, a Merchant-Ivory-Jhabvala production, tells the story of Olive Chancellor, a 19th century Boston woman dedicated to the suffrage movement who takes Verena Tarrant, a radical young woman, under her wing and into her affections. Soon, however, a distant cousin of Olive's falls in love with Verena and his plan for her future competes with Olive's. Stars Christopher Reeve, Vanessa Redgrave and Madeleine Potter.
