Program on Medicinal Plants

Past event
Jul 9, 2014, 6:30 to 8 PM

On July 9 at 6:30, the Castleton Free Library will sponsor a program on aromatic and medicinal plants. Dr. Patrick Keller will lead a tour and discussion of Castleton State College’s medicinal plant gardens, the greenhouse and the rain garden. This is another in the library’s series of garden programs. If you know your way to the college’s greenhouse at the Jeffords Center, meet us there at 6:30. If you are not sure, meet at the Castleton Free Library at 6: 15 and we will walk up together.

Dr. Keller has taught at the college since 1987. He was professor of chemistry in the Department of Natural Science until 2011. In addition to a doctorate in biochemistry, he received his B.S. degree in Botany and Master of Science in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Rhode Island. Currently he is an adjunct faculty member teaching classes on horticulture with an emphasis on growing, harvesting and using medicinal plants.

If the weather is bad we will postpone the program until the following Wednesday, July 16, same time. We will post that information on our Facebook page. We are hoping to beat the bugs, but come prepared with bug repellant. Any questions call 468-5574 or email castletonfreelibrary@gmail.com.
