Sunday, 12/11, 2022 Stowe. Hike. Moderate difficulty with moderate pace. 11+ miles. 1400+/- elevation gain. We will hike Smuggler's Notch Road (closed to cars in the winter) from the road barrier at Barnes Camp in Stowe to the road barrier south of Smugglers Notch Resort in Cambridge and back. Due to the elevation, this is a popular early season spot for skiing on natural snow, but there currently isn't enough snow. The Notch Road also has fascinating geology and history. The roadway may be icy so wear boots and bring traction devices such as microspikes. Also wear layered clothing, hat, and mittens and bring beverage, lunch, and snack. Contact Leader: Phyllis Rubenstein, 793-6313 or phyllisruby2022@gmail.com for meeting time and place.
