The winter holiday season is upon us. For many, that means shopping for gifts to shower upon loved ones. What do you get that brother who has everything, or the well-dressed child who really doesn't need one more toy? What do you do for the grandmother who craves companionship more than yet another scarf or sweater?
For ideas on alternatives to shopping for new items, come to the Gift Ideas workshop and discussion presented by Transition Town Jericho from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 5 at the Jericho Town Library, off the Jericho Green on 7 Jericho Center Cir .
You'll hear ideas on giving gifts of service, homemade items, fun outings/experiences, edible gifts, gifts to charity in honor of a loved one, secondhand items given a new life, and even how to make reusable gift wrappings. Participants are encouraged to share their own stories and traditions of non-commercial gift giving.
Treats will be served. Please bring your own cup and bowl for a waste-free event.
