What does it mean to forgive? In a polarized world where blaming the other side seems to be the default, it is a vital question. On Tuesday, December 6 at 6pm the community is invited to consider forgiveness and its many implications at a Socrates Cafe facilitated by student leaders in the Harwood Union Library.

A Socrates Cafe is civil dialogue at its best. People of all ages and backgrounds come together to discuss a timeless and timely question based on their philosophical perspectives and personal experiences. Since 2010, Harwood Union has been sponsoring these dynamic discussions, which are a national phenomenon. After a two-year pause due to the pandemic, we are excited to be able to welcome the community back into the school for an evening of deep conversation and new insights.

High schoolers will facilitate the dialogues using skills they have learned in Harwood's innovative Harkness Leadership class. Participants from all walks of life will sit in conversational circles to exchange ideas in a non-judgmental atmosphere. It is a wonderful opportunity to question individual perceptions, ponder alternative opinions, and create new bonds with friends and neighbors.

The entire event will run an hour and a half. All are welcome!
