Winter "Seed-Sowing" Workshop

Past event
Dec 9, 1 PM to 3 PM, Dec 10, 2022

Most native plant seeds need 2-3 months of cold to germinate. Learn how you can easily do this, for seeds sprouting, next spring. We'll make small "greenhouses" with plastic jugs, which will protect the seeds through the winter & when they sprout.

I have gathered seeds throughout last season & have dozens of varieties, including; Asters (5 kinds), Blue-eyed Grass, Anise Hyssop, many varieties of Coneflowers, Orange Butterflyweed, Purple Liatris, Pearly Everlastings, Boneset, Fireweed, etc.

All of these will attract pollinators & butterflies & many feed birds. Please contact me for a full list.

Classes will be given on Fri. 12/9, at 3 pm & Sat. 12/10, at 12 pm & again, at 3 pm.

Limited to 6 students */class.

The suggested price is $10, which includes 3 one-gallon plastic jugs, organic potting soil to plant into & your choice of 3 varieties of seeds.

*Children are welcome to help with your project or can be provided with the materials for one greenhouse set-up, for an additional $5.

I look forward to seeing you & answering your plant & pollinator questions.
