Author Talk at Aldrich Public Library

Past event
Nov 30, 2022, 6 to 7 PM

Earlier this year, I published a book: Cosplay: A History: The Builders, Fans, and Makers Who Bring Your Favorite Stories to Life, and the folks at the Aldrich Library invited me to come talk about it!

The book is about the story cosplay — the act of dressing up in costume as a character — and examines the rise of costuming, fandom, technology, and entertainment, and how it's become something of a mainstream phenomenon. Along the way, I talk about the history of science fiction, reenacting, Halloween, where 3D printing came from, and quite a bit more.

I'll be talking about all of this at the library on Wednesday, November 30th at 6PM. I'll bring along some costumes and props that I've built over the years, along with some pictures from throughout cosplay's history, all the way up to the modern day. I'll also have copies with me if you'd like to take a look at it (Harry & Lloyds also has a couple of copies that I dropped off today if you can't make it.)

You can RSVP / remind yourself via this Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/5968832203168347/?ref=newsfeed

I had a lot of fun writing this project, and I'm looking forward to talking about it on Wednesday! Costumes are certainly encouraged!
