Past event
Aug 9, 2014, 10 AM to 2:30 PM

On Saturday, August 9th Jon Kim of the Vermont Geological Survey, George Springston of Norwich University, and Everett Marshall of the Vermont Dept. of Fish and Wildlife will lead an integrated natural history tour of The Waterworks Property in Bristol. This outing is not to be missed! The Vermont Geological Survey and Norwich University have recently completed bedrock and surficial geologic maps of the Bristol area. Jon and George will present key elements of the geology of the area. Everett will give the holistic view of how the geology and plant ecology fit together. Along with the Vermont Geological Society, Norwich University, and the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, the tour is co-sponsored locally by The Watershed Center and Vermont Family Forests. The tour is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. Please leave pets at home. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a hearty lunch and bug dope. Be prepared for a round-trip walk of about 2 miles. Meet at the main parking lot for the Waterworks on Plank Road at 10 am. Please carpool if you can as parking is limited. The tour will wrap up about 2:30 pm. For more information, please contact David Brynn at david@familyforests.org or by calling (802) 453-7728.
