DIY Gnome Making Tutorial
Folks from neighboring towns are invited to join the Friends of the Bixby in creating "well dressed" holiday gnomes on Thurs. Nov. 17, 3:15PM to 6:30PM. Plan on 2 hours to make one gnome. We will make gnomes from plastic flowerpots and tomato cages for outdoor display. The Friends will have a gnome village at the library. If you wish to take yours home, you may do so.
Limited materials will be available. Supplies you can bring: plaid flannel, old "gnomey" shirts, shaggy rug for beards, red or white Christmas balls for noses, nylon stocking material that can be filled for noses with polyfill, tomato cages, graduated plastic plant pots that can be stacked (3 per gnome), heavy duty glue gun, glue sticks (these will be used heavily), leggings that can be cut for a pointy gnome hat, green fabric, red fabric, scissors, pruning clippers, zip ties, and anything else you think would be useful.
For outdoor displays against the wind, you will need some sort of stake. (Lowes in Shelburne has 2 sizes of tomato cages, but used ones work just as well.)
