As announced here before, the Charlotte Library is exhibiting a collection of paintings and drawings of people from our community by a group of artists that gather to paint at a studio on Mt. Philo Road in Charlotte.
You are invited to a party/opening held by these artists on Sunday, November 20 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the library. There will be music and refreshments, and all are welcome. Please join us either at the party, or through the months of November and December to see the art…it is worth seeing, as there are some very good artists in our community.
The group is always looking for people to model, and is open for other artists to join to paint or draw. Anyone who is interested in more information may contact Tonya Bates at tbates@gmavt.net. The group meets on Thursday afternoons. The environment at the studio is casual and relaxed with fun conversation, good music, and lots of laughter. The models they hire are people of varying ages, looks, ethnicities, and genders, and the artists paint or draw in a wide variety of styles and mediums including oils, acrylics, pencil and charcoal. Models are paid $80 for the 4 hour session, and they sit for 20 minutes with 5 or 10 minute breaks between. Many models return time after time, which indicates it is a good experience.
