Heineberg Community Center Bazaar

Past event
Nov 12, 2022, 9 AM to 2 PM

At the Heineber Bazaar, individuals will be selling their arts, crafts, travel and household treasures, books, puzzles, and jewelry. I will be bringing bins of things found in Mexico during my travels there. Look for my table downstairs in the center,

Of special note is a my collection of blankets and other woven pieces made by the Tarahumara in Copper Canyon. They were displayed for years in our old Adirondak camp where they also provided warmth on cold nights. There are sashes, bags, and even an authentic folk dress still worn by native women today. It will be a pleasure to see and touch them even if you don't have a use for them. https://matadornetwork.com/view/meeting-tarahumara-mexico/

The other bin contains altar pieces, rosaries, and statuary commonly displayed on ofrendas. I can't remember all that is there as I packed them up 20 years ago. I don't dare unpack them before Saturday or I will be tempted to keep things. It's time to pass them on! https://www.mexicanosenpolonia.com/2018/10/the-mexican-ofrenda-the-meaning-of-this-tradition.html
