West African Djembe Drum Rhythms Class

Past event
Nov 16, 2022, 6 to 7 PM

This is a class for beginners to learn the basics of W. African djembe drum rhythms, taught by Guinean master drummer, Seny Daffe. Music, drum and dance are very much a part of everyday life in Guinea, W. Africa, and Seny grew up drumming from the time he was a very young boy. He has traveled to many countries in Africa, Europe, and all over the US, teaching and performing. He has lived much of the past 15 years in the US, with frequent trips back to Guinea, and is in high demand for his fun and engaging classes, passing on to you the culture and rhythms of his homeland! In this class, you will learn to play the basic three tones of the djembe drum~ the tone, the slap and the bass~ and practice them as you learn a rhythm or two. Wednesdays (no class on 11/23) 6:00PM-7:00PM Vergennes Union High School Library. $80.00 Resident $85.00 Non Resident. Register at vergennesrec.org.

If you're curious to see where this can lead, come watch the advanced class at Holley Hall in Bristol on Sundays at 5:30!
