East Montpelier now has a stretch of the finest blacktop in the county.. maybe the state.. maybe the world. That's cause to celebrate.
Join your neighbors and friends for a slow-speed celebration of the completion of the 4-mile County Road paving project this Sunday, November 13 from 9 am to noon. The road will be closed to through traffic for those three hours and all bikers, walkers, roller bladers, roller skiers, skateboarders and everyone else is invited to come out at enjoy our new town asset. Bring the whole family.
What a great opportunity to see the work close-up, forget about the hassles the construction caused, and revel in as beautiful and smooth a stretch of road as you can find anywhere.
The road closures will be as they were during construction: on the south end at the junction of County and Center Roads, and on the north end at the junction of County Road and Templeton Road. Through traffic will be diverted to Center Road and Templeton Road. Plenty of signs should make things easy.
Residents who live along County Road between the closures will still be able to come and go; the road won't be entirely car-free. Parking will be available at each end.
Volunteers are needed for short shifts at each end of the blacktop. Respond to this e-mail if you're interested.
