Contra Dance Again, Saturday at the Grange!

Past event
Nov 5, 2022, 7:30 to 11 PM

We'll be having a contra dance for the 2nd week in a row tomorrow, Saturday 11/5, the first Saturday of the month. This follows a festive "5th Saturday" dance last weekend, as the calendar occasionally allows.

The dancing starts with a Newcomers/Refresher instruction session about 7:40, and then dancing from 8:00 to 11:00. Kristen Planeaux will call excellent dances, with Vermont band Frost and Fire playing excellent tunes...some of them with bagpipes, as well as fiddles, hand drums, piano, concertina, whistles, mandolin, guitar and flute (but probably not all at the same time). Kristen will teach the instruction session, and all the dances all evening. We are always happy to have new folks try out our friendly dance community!

If you haven't been to a contra dance, check out the videos of folks dancing in the Grange Hall at: http://capitalcitygrange.org/dancing/contradancing/. You'll also see our COVID protocols: We require good masks: N95, KN95/94 or medical/surgical masks. We will give you one if needed!

Admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the wonderful callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. We appreciate everyone who comes, whatever you pay! The Grange is easy to get to, on Rt. 12 in Berlin, just about 1 mile south of Montpelier--just before the I-89 overpass if you are heading north.

Questions? Want to be on the email newsletter list for dance reminders? Send an email to Tim: cdu.tim@gmail.com, or call me: 802-225-8921. Or reply to this FPF post!

PS: There is a Community Potluck from 6:00 to 7:00 before we reorganize the Hall for the dance, please join us and your neighbors for good food, some socializing--and a chance to see what the inside of the Grange Hall is like, if you haven't been there. Bring whatever you want to share!
