Please join us for an evening of Kirtan with a friend of mine, Mukti, who is coming up from Montpelier.

For those of us, unfamiliar with kirtan, it is a tradition from Hindu culture to connect with our divine inner self through chanting simple phrases in sanskrit. It is also just an opportunity for drumming, singing, toning, dancing, while ultimately connecting with the Sacred, whatever Sacred means to you.

It will be led by my friend Mukti. He lives in Montpelier and will make a trip down here specifically to share this experience with us. He'll bring his harmonium and probably drums, and you are welcome to bring your instruments as well. I'm really psyched Mukti is willing to hold this for us. He has a dedicated personal practice for years now of daily morning prayer, which includes kirtan among other things. I hope he will find it worthwhile and easy enough to visit this time, that we could make it some sort of regular affair, to be honest :)

No particular prior experience needed. We'll be chanting sanskrit phrases (and some engish too) that Mukti will offer and repeat, and will likely explain a bit too.
