Tai-Chi for Fall Prevention

The Varnum Library is offering a FREE Beginner Level Fall Prevention Tai Chi class led by Valerie Valcour RN, a certified Tai Chi Vermont Instructor, beginning Saturday November 5 th from 9:30 until 10:30 am.

These evidenced-based classes will continue every Saturday through December, with the exception of November 26 th and December 24 th . Wear comfortable shoes and loose-fitting clothes.

Fall Prevention Tai Chi is a Sun Style form of Tai Chi.  It is a variety of movements and forms that specifically work on fall prevention strategies like weight transference, mindfulness, and balance.  Fall Prevention Tai Chi is a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce falls and arthritis pain and decrease depression, anxiety, and osteoporosis. The sessions include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level and ability. Led by a trained program leader, Valerie Valcour, these enjoyable and motivational classes may be taken either standing or sitting in a chair.
