**The Importance of Climate Action — and the Role of Communities in Progress**

An informal network of interested Lamoille County and Stowe residents is hosting an event to talk about state and local climate action efforts and the opportunity in advancing cost-saving and pollution-cutting solutions. Join friends and neighbors for coffee and conversation at Woodland Baking at 394 Mountain Rd. in Stowe at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 31st! Hear from Vermont Climate Council member Johanna Miller about the state's fairly nascent effort to craft and implement a Climate Action Plan, as now required by law, and some of the significant policies and programs identified. Learn about some of the exciting work underway in communities across the state as well as the potential money-saving opportunities via unprecedented federal funding — including the new Inflation Reduction Act. Get your questions answered.

Offer your ideas. Outline your concerns. And participate in a community conversation about how strategic climate solutions can cut high energy costs for Vermonters, grow jobs, improve public health outcomes, enhance equity and more. Join us and spread the word!

Another great opportunity to learn more is happening this week from The Current. "Mental Health Impacts of Climate Change" will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

An overview of mental health impacts of our climate-changing world will be presented by Suellen Breakey, PhD, RN and Patrice K. Nicholas, DNSc, DHL (Hon), MPH, MS, RN, NP-C, FAAN of MGH Institute of Health Professionals Center for Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Health. Learn about the impacts of extreme heat and weather, poor air quality, hurricanes, flooding, rising sea levels, and post-disaster health challenges on mental health. Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicide, and suicidal thoughts related to climate change will also be discussed.
