Come to the Town Hall in Franklin on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 AM to hear Vermont author and historian Christine Hadsel give a talk on Vermont's painted theater curtains and the talented and often sophisticated artists who created them. Between 1880 and World War II, painted theater curtains were artistic features of most New England villages and towns. In Vermont, they graced stages in town and grange halls, opera houses, and community theaters. The Franklin Town Hall's curtain will be unfurled in all its glory, so this is a great opportunity to see it and hear a fascinating talk about it and others like it! Sponsored in part by Vermont Humanities, and presented by the Haston Library. The talk is free, open to the public, and accessible to those with disabilities.
