Contra Dance Saturday - And Costume Contest!

Past event
Oct 29, 2022, 7:40 to 11 PM

Join us for an enjoyable dance, with the option of wearing a costume if you want! If you do, you might even get a modest prize in a category to be determined--could be anything from "best use of corrugated cardboard" to "silliest hat".

Come by 7:40 if you want to join the "newcomers/refresher" instruction session led by caller Don Stratton, and dance from 8:00 to 11:00 to Don's teaching and calling, and music by "Kingfisher"--Jeff Kaufman on piano/mandolin/drums/synths, and Cecilia Vacanti on fiddle. We are always happy to have new folks come to the dance--and to see people we've been dancing with for years! This dance series happens at the Capital City Grange Hall, at 6612 VT 12 in Berlin. It's just before the overpass if you're driving north from Northfield.

If you haven't been to a contra dance, check out the videos of folks dancing in the Grange Hall at: http://capitalcitygrange.org/dancing/contradancing/. You'll also see our COVID protocols: We require good masks: N95, KN95/94 or medical/surgical masks. We will give you one if needed!

Admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the excellent callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. We appreciate everyone who comes, whatever you pay!
