BOND VOTE for the Pine Street Water Line Replacement Project
In-person and via Zoom
https://zoom.us/ Meeting ID: 879 1281 0018 Passcode: 619003
The Bristol Selectboard will be hosting public information meetings on Monday, October 24 and Monday, November 7, at approximately 7:00pm, to provide information, answer questions, and receive comments from citizens regarding the proposed bond vote seeking authorization to borrow up to $940.000 over 30 years to replace the circa 1905 water line on Pine Street. If approved, this project will:
• Replace approx. 2,570 feet of 117 year-old, unlined, cast iron water main pipe that is beyond its useful life (roughly 70 – 80 years);
• Replace the service lines from the main to the curb stops with new copper pipe;
• Reduce the need to interrupt water service to deal with emergencies, such as water line breaks or leaks;
• Improve distribution system reliability; and
• Result in the street being repaved.
There is no viable alternative to replacement. The overall system has a 50+ % leakage rate, compared to a < 20% rate for a typical municipal system. What is the cost of doing nothing? How will the bond affect water district ratepayers? Comments or questions? Contact Town Administrator Valerie Capels at (802) 453-2410 or townadmin@birstolvt.org.
