Please join Duxbury Land Trust members and friends for an online evening presentation by Jaclyn Comeau, Vermont Fish and Wildlife Bear Biologist, on Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00 pm.

As the temperatures begin to drop, black bears are actively seeking food to put on weight before the winter sets in. What strategies can our community consider to ensure a safe coexistence with our ursine neighbors? What is the Fish and Wildlife Department doing to manage the bear population in Vermont? Jaclyn will provide an update on the status of Vermont's black bear population, human-bear incidents, and data collected regarding bear incidents within the Mad River Valley. She'll discuss management strategies used to manage the state's bear population and to address increasing reports of human-bear conflicts.

The Duxbury Land Trust is a partner of the Mad River Valley Bear Initiative, the hosting coalition, working to educate and engage the public on black bear biology and bear management issues in our community. Many DLT members and friends heard Jaclyn Comeau at our annual meeting last spring and will want to hear Jaclyn's updates; others will be hearing her for the first time! We hope you will join us.
