The Salmon of the River Clyde is an inspiring, beautiful and complelling documentary about one of Vermont's most unique fisheries produced and directed by MadDog TU'er Ian Sweet.
The Clyde River salmon run is unique in Vermont. Anglers come to the river from many miles around to fish for landlocked salmon, which historically grew larger and were numerous! They also came into a city to fish for them! The history of and legacy of the salmon runs, which go back into the 19th century in the City of Newport. The runs were vigorous and attracted hundreds of anglers each year to a unique river in what in Vermont is an urban fishery.
This documentary explores the Clyde's salmon run history, the historic dam removal, the rivers current challenges and the management plans to invigorate the Clyde River salmon run. The Clyde has a great back story and a new chapter is about to be written.
