From 1897 to 1932 the Mt. Mansfield Electric Railroad ran along the current Route 100 roadway from Waterbury to Stowe. P. Howard Flanders will tell the story of construction and operation of the railroad with a collection of old photos and newspaper articles. This was the last operating electric railroad totally within Vermont. Much of the railroad right of way was used in the construction of the concrete Route 100 highway from Waterbury to Stowe.
Presentation begins at 1:00 sharp. Doors open at 12:30. Fee for non-OLLI members is $8 per lecture. You may pick up a registration form and an envelope to UVM at the Cinema.
