Area Peace and Justice groups will hold a rally at Peter Welch's Office at 128 Lakeside Ave. near Pine Street Burlington, on Friday, October 14 at 3:30 pm.

October 2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis — when the Soviet Union and U.S. engaged in a tense standoff over the installation of nuclear weapons in Cuba. It is widely considered the closest the two superpowers ever came to nuclear war… until now.

While the dangers of nuclear war have risen sharply this year, very few members of the House and Senate have risen to the occasion by speaking out or publicly urging measures to de-escalate tensions between nuclear powers and seriously revive negotiations for nuclear-weapons treaties and disarmament measures. We believe now is the time to support negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

We are grateful to Peter Welch for having signed on to the Norton bill to abolish nuclear weapons HR2850:

Now that Rep. Welch is running for the Senate, he will have additional responsibilities in foreign policy. We hope he will become a leader in peace and justice issues in the Senate. To urge him on, we will present him (or his office) with a Vermonters' Vision for a New Foreign Policy. We welcome a discussion with him. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rumUwqp2S-1LZFlJtKYc3WPBYMbZhvqLG0DehpJrNPs/edit#heading[...]7os,

The Vision has been endorsed by Action Corps, Rights and Democracy, VT
