Everything is Coming Up Pumpkins!
Jessica Chittenden Ziehm will be at Easton Library Tuesday, October 18 at 4:30 PM to share her pumpkin knowledge. Jessica will tell the best conditions to plant pumpkins, what the best varieties of pumpkins are to grow in Easton, why she began a pumpkin business and how it blossomed from a small road-side stand to a cow barn sized production. Jessica will have pumpkins to demonstrate.
Jessica manages the Tiashoke Farm Stand, located on Route 40, in Schaghticoke, NY. There are approximately 50 varieties of homegrown pumpkins sold at the new store, which is housed in an 1800's German barn on the Tiashoke Farm property.
Jessica, in addition to being a wife and mom to two children is the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator for Tiashoke Farm, and was a former Executive Director of the NY Animal Agriculture Coalition from Buskirk, NY (a not-for-profit that works to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation for animal agriculture.) Jessica and her family live on her husband's family farm where they milk 950 cows and crop over 2,000 acres. In high school, Jessica was active in 4-H, but found her passion for advocacy when she was serving as the NYS Dairy Princess. Jessica went to college at SUNY Cobleskill for two years and then finished up her four years at Virginia Tech.
Easton Library is located at 1074 State Route 40, Greenwich (Easton) 12834. Reservations are suggested. Please call the library at 518-692-2253.
