A Killing Couple: The couple that kills together (in books) stays together… Or do they?

Award winning author S. Lee Manning and debut author J. B. Manning discuss not just their very different thrillers, their writing processes and why they write what they write, but how the writing affects their marriage and their marriage affects their writing.

James B. Manning is a writer based in Elmore, VT, where he lives with his novelist wife, S. Lee Manning and their cat, Xiao. In prior lives, he was an attorney, litigating cases in New York City and New Jersey; a college professor, teaching literature and writing; and a newspaper reporter in Tampa, St. Petersburg and New Orleans. He has a Ph.D. in English Literature from Columbia University and a J.D. from Rutgers University. His poetry has appeared in The New Yorker.

An award winning writer and reformed attorney, S. Lee Manning is the author of international thrillers. Her life-long interests in Russia and espionage are reflected in her Kolya Petrov thrillers. Her first novel, Trojan Horse, winner of the 2020 Kops-Fetherling International Phoenix Award for New Voice in action/thriller and a finalist for Killer Nashville's Silver Falchion Award in two categories, and the National Indie Excellence Award for political novels, debuted on October 16, 2020 from Encircle Publications, and Nerve Attack was launched on September 22, 2021. Bloody Soil, her third novel, will be launching on November 9, 2022. Manning also began performing as a stand-up comic after taking a class at the Vermont Comedy Club. In 2019, she was a semi-finalist in the Vermont's Funniest Comedian contest. Manning lives in Vermont with her husband and very vocal cat Xiao.
