Two Song-Filled Concerts to Honor Larry Gordon
Last year at the beginning of November, we lost music director, organizer and visionary – the amazing Larry Gordon.
As we struggled to imagine how we could remember and honor Larry's life and musical achievements – we asked ourselves - "How else to remember the joyous creativity that was Larry's gift to the world –except with song?" Upcoming, then, toward the end of October are two, song-filled, weekend concerts. One concert in Burlington on Friday evening, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. is at the College Street Congregational Church. A second concert on Saturday evening, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. is at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier.
At both concerts an ensemble of musicians and singers who were Larry's friends or colleagues or were people whose lives were influenced by Larry's work – will perform a concert that will represent the many musical worlds that Larry embraced.Larry's love of music was as passionate as it was diverse and the upcoming concerts will take us on a journey from American shape note-singing to baroque and Renaissance music to the folk songs of such far-flung places as the island of Corsica, the Balkan peninsula, the Republic of Georgia and South Africa.
Advance-sale tickets ($15-$30) are recommended and are available at www.capitalcityconcerts.org or at the door on the evening of the performance.
