Trunk-Or-Treat

The Killington Recreation Department will be hosting their first Trunk-or-Treat Halloween celebration. This event is free and open to children of all ages in Killington and neighboring towns and will be held at the Sherburne Memorial Library on Sunday, October 30th from 3:00-5:00 pm.

At Trunk-or-Treat volunteer parents, organizations, or businesses decorate the trunk of their car or bed of their truck in a Halloween theme, then park on the perimeter of the parking lot with the nose of their vehicle facing away from the center of the lot. While DJ MC Sounds spins tunes, children will parade around the parking lot showing off their costumes. After the parade, children will come to each vehicle to trick-or-treat. This type of event caught a lot of attention during the COVID-19 pandemic as a great way for people to come together outside. There will be prizes for most creative, spookiest, and most realistic costume as well as prizes for games.

The more Trunk-or-Treat vehicles present, the more fun it is for the children, so community volunteers are needed! Anyone interested in participating can visit www.killingtonrec.com for more information. Registration is free and open until October 15th and no registration is needed for children attending the event. Parents are not required to participate as a Trunk-or-Treat vehicle in order to bring their child. Registered Trunk-or-Treat vehicles will park at the Sherburne Memorial Library. Those who do not register can park at the Johnson Recreation Center and walk over. There are handicapped spaces available at the library, but space is limited, so please email Griffin Van Niel at recadmin@killingtontown.com to reserve.
