Mt Abe Community Forums

The event we held on the 11th was a great start to the process of engaging the community in considering the condition of our Middle and High School and how we might invest in its improvement.

The 35 citizens who showed up were broken up into small groups upon arriving. Each of the groups including a facilitator (Elementary School Board members or FAC members) got a tour of the facility lead by students from David Marsters Honors class--thank you students! Participants then heard fron Lee Dore of Dore and Whittier Architects about the condition of the building and the extensive surveys of students, teachers, and staff. Over the next hour we discussed in each of the small groups three questions about the school; what are the building most crucial current needs, what attributes it will need for the next 50 years and how the five town community might become more involved in using and appreciating the value of this commonly owned resource. After the disscussions, each of the facilitators reported out to the whole group on the highlights of the various discussions. All in all the event was very helpful in better aquainting a group of citizens about their school and providing valuable feedback to the Facility Advisory Committee. The next even will be taking place at Mt Abe in the Cafeteria from 6-8:30 on Wednesday the 25th. Please join us if you can or stay tuned for future events.
