Thank you to all who signed petitions and wrote letters in support of changing the name of Negro Brook in Townshend to Huzzy Brook, in honor of Susannah and James Huzzy - Black Americans who lived in the Townshend area in the late 18th and early l9th centuries. We have been given a hearing with the Vermont Board of Libraries, who will be deciding whether to accept our proposal.
We invite you to the hearing on this coming Tuesday, October 11th. The board will be holding their regular meeting from 10-12, and we anticipate them getting to our petition at 10:45.
