Seed Ball Workshop for Your Pollinator Gardens

Past event
Oct 16, 2022, 1 to 2:30 PM

Are you interested in learning how to make seed balls? Would you like to learn more about strategies to help pollinators around your home or workplace? Then please join us at Geprags Community Park in Hinesburg on Sunday October 16 from 1-2:30 PM. This family friendly event is free and open to the public. You can go home with the seed balls you make and plant them in your own pollinator garden or meadow. This is an outdoor activity involving work with dirt and clay so please dress in warm clothes you won't mind getting a bit dirty. All ages are welcome!

What are they? Seed balls are an ancient planting strategy used for dispersing and germinating seeds in a wide range of conditions. They are made from compost, clay and seeds and when used for native plants in our region, fall is the best time to plant them.

Members of the Hinesburg Chapter of the Vermont Master Naturalist Program will be there to discuss our new Lawn to Pollinator Habitat site and lead the seed ball making workshop using native perennial seeds donated by America Meadows. This event was made possible with funds from the Town of Hinesburg Conservation Commission.

Rain Date: Sunday October 23, 1-2:30PM
