Talk: a History of the Indian Child Welfare Act

Past event
Oct 5, 2022, 6 PM

There was a time when tribal leaders reported that their children were missing. They had been taken from the homes that they knew and placed in non-Indigenous homes. Children were taken in droves. Learn how the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) came into existence, and how it is currently jeopardized by a Supreme Court Case that threatens tribal sovereignty. With Heather Bruegl, an Independent Indigenous Consultant and Historian.
