October 6 at 1:30-2:30

This virtual travelogue will take you to the scorching deserts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a landscape filled with sand, camels, scorpions, and wild gerbils. Vermonter Erika Mitchell taught English and Computer Science at Zayed University in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from 1998-2003. Erika will share some of her adventures wild camping in the deserts and wadis of the UAE. These adventures include camping in the remains of Bronze Age era ancient villages in Wadi Bih, hiking up Fossil Rock, and swimming with sting rays off the beaches of Jumeirah. Along the way, she met camels and camel herders, sunbirds, flamingos and searched for wildflowers after desert rains. Join us on October 6 at 1:30. Contact jane@cscvt.org for the link.
