The Town of Essex presents, "Explore Essex", a celebration of community!
Sponsored by The Essex Experience, WCAX Channel 3, 101.3 The Wolf, Outdoor Gear Exchange, Twincraft Skincare, Catamount Color, Donald L. Hamlin Consulting Engineers, and Vermont Natural Resources Council.
While many fall festivals focus on pumpkins or foliage, the first annual Explore Essex fall festival on Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 will celebrate all that the Town of Essex offers to those who work, play or live in the community. Because Essex is the town that has a little bit of everything, Essex officials are excited to promote the local farms, forests, restaurants, businesses, entertainment, and parks.
The event is free and will include activities such as:
- No Other Lake movie screening and panel discussion by Essex locals Jordan Rowell and Duane Peterson III, sponsored by the Vermont Natural Resources Council
- Mountain bike clinics and demonstrations sponsored by Outdoor Gear Exchange. Try out a mountain bike!
- HIIT Class, Functional Fitness Boot Camp, and Spartan race sampler hosted by Fit2Excel
-Fort Ethan Allen Museum - check out this important piece of Vermont and military history
- Essex Free Library hosts a story walk and craft time
-Essex Police Department Open House
-BINGO hosted by the Essex Area Seniors at The Essex Experience
-Essex Community Players Open House - What happens before the curtain goes up?
-Guided hiking tour at Indian Brook Park
-Fun at Sand Hill Park: Essex High School Cheerleaders perform, Essex CHIPS hosts family activities, an Instrument Petting Zoo, face painting, and Touch-a-Truck hosted by the Essex Fire Department and Public Works
-Vendor booths, nonprofit booths, food trucks, and musical performances at the Old Barn Stage at The Essex Experience with live broadcasting from 101.3 The Wolf
-Essex Community Historical Society - Learn about upcoming programs and your Essex history!
-Phoenix Books hosting a Story Time and in-store scavenger hunt
-Pickin' Guitars and Pickin' Apples hosted by Chapin Orchard - enjoy music while you pick!
-Evening music and food at 1st Republic Brewing and The Tavern at The Essex Resort & Spas
Essex businesses and organizations have donated more than $5,200 in prizes for the "Giveaway Exploraganza", which incentivizes festival goers to explore different locations in town. The more "official ticket stops" you visit, the more chances you will receive at winning one of these fantastic prizes. You do not have to reside in Essex to participate. Anyone is encouraged to explore and enjoy the fun!
Businesses and restaurants are offering specials all weekend and many organizations are holding open house events and food drives. Bring your nonperishable food items! A full list of activities can be found on the event website at www.essexvt.org/explore.
