The Berlin Fall Scholastic Chess Tournament is an an unrated tournament open to chess players of all abilities from Kindergarten through Grade 12, where the focus is on fun and sportsmanship.
Players will be grouped into sections according to grade level. Expected sections will be: Grades K-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12.
All players will play four rounds (no-one will be eliminated). This is an unrated tournament, and first round pairing will be by random draw. Subsequent round pairings will be made according to the Swiss system, which pairs players with similar win-loss records. The time control for each round will be Game/30 (each player has 30 minutes) so no round will last longer than one hour. Players are encouraged to notate their games, but notation is not required.
Trophies will be awarded to the top finisher and medals will be awarded to the top 5 players in each section.
