Free Fall Programs in Moosalamoo National Rec Area!

The Green Mountain National Forest is providing free outdoor programs and guided hikes in our own Moosalamoo National Recreation Area throughout the fall! Be on the lookout for events every week into mid-October. This week the activities are:

THURSDAY 9/29
9:30 - 11:30 am: Hike North Branch Trail to Voter Brook Overlook
A challenging 3 mile roundtrip hike along a boulder-strewn brook to a fabulous overlook. Meets at the Silver Lake Trail parking lot, no registration required. Call hike leader Pat at 802-578-3980 for more information.

FRIDAY 9/30
10 - 12:30 pm: Hog back Mountain Loop at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center
A moderately challenging 4 mile hike passing through woods, wild blueberry fields, and featuring mountain views. Wear bug spray, close-toed shoes, and bring plenty of water. Blaze orange clothing encouraged for hunting season safety. Meet at the Blueberry Hill Outdoor center to join, no registration required. SATURDAY 10/1
10 - 11:30 am: Meditative Walk at the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail
Meet at the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail for a guided walking meditation practice, no registration required. The trail is ADA accessible and rated easy. Email Jill at brooks.jill96@gmail.com for more info.
1 - 4 pm: Hike and Plein Air Painting at Voter Brook Overlook
Hike to an overlook of wildflowers and the Adirondack mountains, and spend an hour there making art before heading back. Watercolor supplies and basic instruction provided. Hike is moderately challenging and about 3 miles roundtrip. Space is limited! Sign up by emailing Jill at brooks.jill96@gmail.com.

SUNDAY 10/2
10 - 1pm: Hike to Story Time at Silver Lake
Hike along an old forest road to a story time on the shores of a peaceful mountain lake before hiking back down. Hike is 3 miles roundtrip, rated moderate and features 700 feet of elevation gain. Story time is intended for children ages 5-10, but all are welcome. Meet at the Silver Lake trailhead to join, no registration required. 10 - 2pm: Hike to Mt Moosalamoo
Climb the mountain at the heart of Moosalamoo National Recreation Area! An energetic, moderately challenging 5 mile hike through the woods. Meet at the Mt. Moosalamoo trailhead at Moosalamoo campground to join. Call hike leader Pat at 802-578-3980 for more information.
