Meet Hillary Gerardi -Fastest Woman to Ski Haute Route

Past event
Sep 29, 2022, 6:30 to 8 PM

Join us at the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Museum in Stowe with acclaimed high mountain athlete Hillary Girardi, who set the first women's speed record for skiing the legendary high alpine route, La Haute Route, between Chamonix, France and Zermatt, Switzerland in 2021. (No lifts allowed!) She covered 26,000 feet of mountainous terrain and 66 miles of glaciers in just over 26 hours, a feat that takes the average skier five or six days.

In a casual in-person format with moderator Peggy Shinn, a writer and athlete from Rutland, Hillary will discuss how a St. Johnsbury, VT kid who went to Middlebury College ended up living in Chamonix, setting this speed record and becoming a pre-eminent skyrunning champion. A Q&A with the audience will follow. This is an event that will interest skiers, runners, climbers and anyone who loves mountains.

Doors to the Museum will open at 6:00 and guests are invited to enjoy the exhibits and socialize with a cash bar before the discussion begins at 6:30. $10 Admission Donation. For more info https://www.vtssm.org/new-events/hillary
