Open Studio Weekend is Oct. 1 & 2, 10am – 5pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy touring the state during the fall foliage season and to visit the private places in Vermont where art is made. It is sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council . Maps are available on-line and at participating studios, www.vermontcrafts.com.
Karen Deets Stained Glass studio is situated in the lovely wooded hills of Bomoseen State Park, near secluded Glen Lake. Visitors will be greeted by a friendly flock of chickens grazing in the orchard.
There will be window art, many with a personal story, and other smaller glass items. A large selection of fused jewelry will be available.
Learning and seeing the many technical processes of how glass art is made will be the main focus. You are welcome to learn and try glass cutting. Deets teaches workshops and is an instructor at the Community College of Vermont. She is a member of 2 cooperative galleries: Brandon Artists Guild, Brandon, VT, and Epoch Artisans Gallery, Manchester, VT.
Look for the large yellow signs throughout the state.
