Poultney, VT – Join the Poultney Historical Society at our Annual Meeting in the East Poultney Schoolhouse this Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 pm to celebrate an afternoon of history!

The event will feature the presentation "The Things Our Fathers Saw" by local educator and historian Matthew Rozell. The program is free and open to the public.

Rozell will discuss his work in engaging his high school students with history and the people who lived it, which is culminating in a twelve volume oral history series "The Things Our Fathers Saw" and "A Train Near Magdeburg: A Teacher's Journey into the Holocaust", recently featured on C-SPAN's Book TV. "A Train Near Magdeburg" is also currently in production for a major documentary film. A book signing will follow; autographed books will be specially discounted for this event.

In his latest book, On To Tokyo, Rozell returns to the Pacific with our veterans as they recall the chaos of the aftermath at Pearl Harbor; the first challenges on land at Guadalcanal; and island-hopping with the Marines, Navy, and Army at the Marshalls, Marianas, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa.

Matthew Rozell is an award-winning history teacher, author, speaker, and blogger on World War II and the Holocaust. He taught at Hudson Falls (NY) High School for 30 years. He and his class helped to reunite more than 275 Holocaust survivors with their American soldier-liberators, a story that was featured in an ABC World News Person of the Week segment. Rozell's teaching has also been featured by the CBS Evening News, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The Poultney Historical Society's annual business meeting will be held prior to the lecture at 1:00pm. Please help support the Society's work by becoming a member.
