The VT Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival celebrates the sport of "chuckin" pumpkins, for distance, using a do-it-yourself constructed trebuchet, which is a gravity powered catapult. The event is a great opportunity to build something with your hands and engage in some family friendly competition. The current record, set last year, is 780 feet!
The festival raises critical funds for the Clarina Howard Nichols Center. Founded in 1981, Clarina works to end domestic and sexual violence in Lamoille County.
Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 25th. The festival runs from 11am – 4pm and features three rounds of competitive pumpkin chuckin at 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm, with awards shortly after the last round. Admission to the festival is $10 (5 years and under are free). Parking is free.
New this year will be a variety of food trucks! Enjoy tasty food from Stowe Sandwich Company, Pizza on Main, and Maritela's Filipino Cuisine. There will also be music by House Dunn, a chili cook-off, and kids' activities; all creating an enjoyable fall day.
It's not too late to build a trebuchet! Check out this post for more information - http://vtpumpkinchuckin.blogspot.com/2022/06/lets-build-only-103-days-until-13th.html
Maybe you have a great chili recipe! Arrive with 2 gallons of chili by 11:30am and your admission fee is waived.
Specifications, rules, and entry information can be found on the festival's website at www.vtpumpkinchuckin.blogspot.com or contact the festival organizer Dave Jordan, at Djordan@gmavt.net
