Design & Sew Your Own Skirt
First Class Wednesday, October 5, 2022
4:00 PM 5:30 PM
75 Eastern Ave, Suite 203
8 Sessions: Wednesdays starting October 5th
Beginning/intermediate sewists will learn how to draft, alter and sew skirts they design. You will start by learning to measure yourself and draft a basic skirt pattern on paper using a ruler and a pencil. Then you will be guided in choosing a skirt design and fabric. You will learn how to manipulate the basic skirt pattern to create your design. You will learn fabric lay out, marking and cutting techniques. Finally you will sew your skirt together in muslin or an easy to work with fabric of your choice. You will leave this class with a basic skirt pattern that you can modify again and again to make any skirt you imagine.
Pattern making tools and paper will be supplied by the instructor. You will need to supply the fabric and notions to make your skirt. You might find just the right fabric at Chrysalis Creative or you can bring something you have. Suggested fabrics would be cotton plain weave or twill, something easy to work with. Knits, silks and slippery fabrics would not be recommended. *To fit this class into 8 weeks you might have some homework to do.
