Just a reminder that this Saturday the Jericho Conservation Commission is hosting the first event of the Summer 2014 Natural Places of Jericho Series. Come learn about fly fishing on the Browns River from members of Trout Unlimited!
Please join us Saturday June 21st at 9am at the Browns River in Old Mill Park to learn about fly fishing. Members of the Central VT Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be there to talk about the basics of the sport of fly fishing, including equipment and tactics, how to tie on a fly, and a casting demonstration (weather and time permitting). We will also discuss the importance of stream health and conservation to maintain coldwater fish habitat.
We will meet at 9am in the parking area for the Winooski Valley Park District's Old Mill Park (located behind the Old Red Mill off of Route 15 near Joe's Snack Bar). It is a short walk to the Browns River from this parking area. We will meet rain or shine, dress accordingly!
This event is intended for people of all ages and residents of any locale, not just Jericho. Please bring your own equipment to practice casting or to spend a little time fishing in the Browns River following the Trout Unlimited Presentation. Also, please remember to have a valid Vermont fishing license if you are 16 or older and intend to fish.
