You can sign up for public forum via this link: https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/citycouncil/publicforum or in person by completing a sign-up form inside Contois.

We will begin our meeting at 6:30pm with an executive session regarding the network relocation project in Memorial Auditorium. This executive session is expected to take approximately a half hour.

Once out of executive session, we will have a work session on the Railyard Enterprise Project. Public forum will begin at 7:30. Following any climate emergency reports, we have several items on our deliberative agenda:

• A mayoral proclamation honoring Burlington Community Gardens Week.

• A communication from the mayor regarding the appointment of Nic Longo as the new Director of Aviation.

• A presentation and resolution regarding the reorganization and update to staffing of the Office of Business and Workforce Development. This Office is an expansion of the work that has been done by Kara Alnaswari and her team bring a fresh approach to business development well beyond the Marketplace as well as solutions to workforce development.

• Each year, CEDO reports on how the City has used federal funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to address community needs. We will hear a presentation on the Consolidated Annual Performance & Evaluation Report (CAPER) describes what was accomplished with expenditures of $1,741,250.35 during the most recently completed fiscal year, July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022.

• We will be voting to approve a new position with the Police Department. The Recruitment and Hiring Coordinator position was approved in the FY23 budget and this vote will be to approve the job description so the position can be posted. This is a critical position as we work to build the sworn officer ranks as well as the newer non-sworn Community Support Officers and Community Support Liaisons.

• We will have a presentation from the Police Commission on their annual report where they discuss their past years' activities and goals for the coming year.

On Monday the City Council will be approving and recommend to the Local Cannabis Control Commission that it authorize transmission of local approval of four local cannabis control license applications to the Cannabis Control Board.

I would encourage you to check out our agenda on board docs at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public.

As always, I welcome your questions, concerns, and comments, so please be in touch. Your voice matters and I am grateful for your input.

It's feeling like early fall in the air. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
